Fun Fact #11: Alpacas only have lower jaw teeth

Alpacas only have teeth in their lower jaw at the front. Above, a hard dental pad replaces the incisors – ideal for gently plucking grass. This protects the meadow and prevents overgrazing. Another plus point for their sustainable nature!

Fun Fact #12: Their stomach? A three-part marvel

Alpacas digest their food in three stomach chambers – similar to ruminants. This allows them to optimally utilize nutrients, which is particularly beneficial with sparse pasture or hay feeding. It hardly gets more efficient!

Fun Fact #13: Shared toilet for more hygiene

Alpacas are exceptionally clean: They use shared "toilet areas", which greatly facilitates pasture management. This hygienic peculiarity also helps to keep parasites away – a real blessing in daily stable life!

Fun Fact #14: Environmentally friendly landscape managers

With their gentle way of grazing and their light step, alpacas neither damage the sward nor the soil structure. Added to this is their nutrient-rich manure – perfect conditions for biological landscape maintenance.

Fun Fact #15: Long-lived & fertile – with small peculiarities

Alpacas can live for over 25 years and only reach sexual maturity at around two years of age. Interesting: They only ovulate after mating – which makes targeted breeding easier and more animal-friendly.
